Modell Flugsport Has Its Finger on the Pulse

Lithium-polymer batteries in MFS since 1996

It has been nearly 14 years since we reported in detail in MFS on lithium batteries with conductive polymer cathodes. The report stated, among other things: “The number of charge-discharge cycles for test batteries with a DMcT polyaniline cathode was limited to just over 100 in previous versions. Replacing lithium metal with a lithium-graphite compound could eliminate this drawback. On the other hand, the DMcT cathode allows only low discharge current densities of 0.1 mA/cm²; however, a thin-film cathode can be designed to cover a very large area without an excessive increase in weight. Thus, high charge and discharge currents could still be achieved.”

When 2.4-GHz systems were still met with skepticism

As early as 2007, we described 2.4-GHz systems as an “ingenious” solution that would address “(almost) all problems”—and, in particular, the nonsense surrounding the so-called European frequency harmonization at 35 MHz (France stuck with 41 MHz) with its uncontrollable

Cutting extremely swept Styrofoam wings was already described in the MFS back in 2008.

Model aviation has corrected or circumvented this through its own use. At the same time, foreign magazines expressed deep skepticism—even outright rejection—toward 2.4 GHz transmitters. In fact, it was even claimed that this frequency was “banned” for model aviation.

How do I cut Styrofoam wings with a very pointed shape?

What Swiss researchers describe as a new method in foreign journals can be found in the MFS years earlier and can be read in the MFS documentation at www.modellflugsport.ch.

to fit as much as possible into our magazine—sometimes I’m almost more of an accountant than an editor. Still, your submissions can get lost in the shuffle—even by me, every now and then. If you’d like to help reduce errors and make my job a little easier, keep this simple tip in mind: When you send me a submission via email—such as an event date—please include the event’s title in the subject line, e.g., “Klinkseil Cup 007,” or at least the name of your group. If you just write “Add to calendar” or simply “Event submission,” it can easily get overlooked among the many emails I receive or have a harder time finding its way into the right folder. Thank you in advance for your understanding. My
