I know what you mean!

Dear Emil

I’ve been meaning to thank you for a long time for your initiative regarding the magazine “Modell Flugsport.”

I’ve been familiar with the magazine since its first issue as an informational publication for Region 5. Back then, I was a member of the Dietikon Model Flying Club (DK-43) and later joined the Glarnerland Model Flying Club.

The magazine isn’t overly “market-oriented” and provides interesting and balanced coverage of the entire model aviation scene in our country.

Even later, as a glider pilot working on the construction of the HB-852, I always enjoyed reading the magazine.

As a carpenter and organ builder responsible for training apprentices, your forewords have always spoken to me from the heart.

I’ve attached photos of the “giant Muni” at the Mollis airfield. We live right next door. So we watched as the ridge beam was installed. When the carpenter at the very top of the “Muni” shouted the “carpenter’s thank-you cry,” I was reminded once again of your forewords. Working together with experienced carpenters and apprentices from many different companies in a spirit of camaraderie—using time-honored, traditional craftsmanship alongside state-of-the-art technology to erect an almost impossible structure—was truly moving...

Mollis Airfield has been closed for more than a month, and I haven’t heard a single negative comment from my colleagues. Is it because we, too, are grateful for the acceptance of our hobby?

On the very same day the “Muni Max” collaborative project was completed, reality set in for me once again.

Following a Federal Supreme Court ruling, the Stetten Model Aircraft Club must close its model airfield after many years. A stream is said to run beneath the airfield, and a gathering place for people on a green meadow does not fit in with the natural environment, according to the press report.

At the Mollis airfield, too—where the 2025 Swiss Wrestling and Apple Wine Festival will take place—there are streams, and there are gathering places for people in the countryside. But we model aviators stand in solidarity and accept idealistic projects like the 2025 ESAF with the “giant bull” in Mollis.
