BOW Region – Flying at the Grosse Scheidegg

Dear Emil

In September, I had planned to go model flying with my brother-in-law at the Grosse Scheidegg, as we always do. Now, Fredi Andrist has brought it to my attention that a new park ranger is monitoring the wildlife protection zone east of the pass. So I called Ernst Winkler, the president of the MG Grindelwald. He warned against going east of the road that leads from the pass toward First and Bachalpsee, and against flying model airplanes there. The MGG held a flying event in the spring, as they always do. The new park ranger showed up and gave them a stern talking-to. Since they’re a local club, he decided not to fine them this time. In the future, he will fine all model aircraft pilots who do not adhere to this boundary 150 Swiss francs. In effect, this means flying is now only permitted in the direction of Grindelwald. Please warn our fellow members in the MFS about this fine trap. ■

Warm regards
, Peter Ringier, MV Veterans
