34 MHz Has No Chance in Switzerland

5

According to the PTT, remote controls that operate on the 34 MHz frequency—which has recently been authorized in Germany—cannot be authorized in Switzerland, as some of these channels are reserved for military purposes. Furthermore, this frequency is not among those recommended by CEPT countries for remote control purposes.

The editorial office has been receiving an increasing number of complaints about model airplanes being disrupted or caused to crash by two-way radios. We would like to expressly state here that any observations regarding the misuse of two-way radios (e.g., operation on our channels, the sale of cheap handheld two-way radios—we quote: “For export only,” etc.) must be reported immediately to the responsible district postal office. Please help us! We model aircraft enthusiasts are already at a disadvantage, considering that two-way radio users have over 20 channels at their disposal. However, unless you’re unlucky enough to live in Ticino—where the Italians, with their 100-watt systems on 27 MHz, come in stronger than we do here in Beromünster—you can at least still fly to some extent.
