It worked on the second try
The 2nd Scale Helicopter Meet in the Principality of Liechtenstein
For the second time—following the events in 2019 and originally planned for 2022—the Principality of Liechtenstein Model Flying Group (MFGL) hosted a scale helicopter meet. Unfortunately, due to the passing of the Princess, the 2022 event had to be postponed to 2023. However, this circumstance did not cause the MFGL to bury its head in the sand; rather, it spurred the organizing committee on even more to hold the event a year later. In September 2022, the time had finally come, and around 30 helicopter pilots, along with their amazing scale helicopter models, made their way to the beautiful “Ländle.”
Long before the event began, there was a flurry of activity as pilots arriving from all parts of Switzerland, as well as from Germany, Italy, and Austria, prepared their models. From small, electric-powered scale helicopters to 3-meter-tall, turbine-powered full-scale helicopters, there was something for everyone to marvel at in the model park. Right on time at 10 a.m., after the customary briefing, the flying began. There was no set program; anyone who wanted to fly simply placed their model in the flight line and waited for their turn. But there was also plenty of time for technical discussions between the pilots and the numerous spectators in attendance. Unfortunately, flying had to be interrupted in the middle of the afternoon due to the
the onset of rain. Afterward, however, most pilots unpacked their models again and continued flying well into the evening.
The variety of models was impressive. Almost every model type and its pilots were represented.
Josef Kofler
from South Tyrol. With his Bell AH-1 Cobra, he put on a spectacular flight display that left many spectators rubbing their eyes in disbelief. The model has a rotor diameter of 3.35 meters and is powered by a Jakadofsky PRO X, making it a rare sight at a flying event.
The reigning Swiss Scale Champion, Michael, also demonstrated fantastic scale flights.

Tschiemer and the former champion, Roland Kaufmann. The two of them certainly did a great job promoting the upcoming Swiss Championship in St. Stephan. Hopefully, this effort will bear fruit and has motivated or convinced a few people to participate.
In conclusion, it’s safe to say that the MFGL once again organized and hosted an absolutely fantastic event for the second edition of this gathering
and executed. Thanks to the highly motivated pilots and organizers, visitors were once again treated to an excellent demonstration and showcase of scale helicopter flying.
Unfortunately, following the pandemic, quite a few events in the scale flying scene have not reappeared on the calendar. Let’s hope that this changes again in 2023 and that perhaps some of the organizers from the past will revive their events.
