The 2023 competition season was very encouraging in terms of participant numbers. We were able to expand and rejuvenate the small group of F3A pilots. The efforts made in recent years to train beginners seem to be paying off. Competitions were held in the following categories:

  • Sportflyers (Basic and Upper programs)
  • Swiss League (Advanced A-23, Preliminary P-23, and Final F-23 programs)
  • Coupe des Alpes (P-23 and F-23)
  • International Friendship Flying Competition in Liechtenstein (P-23 and F-23)
  • Challenge Cup (Basic and Tucson programs)

– The national team pilots also competed in the World Championships in Australia.

The pilots, as well as the members of the F3A Technical Committee, would like to extend their sincere thanks to the organizing clubs and the judges for their professional work and their dedication to the sport.

Selection for the F3A National Team

The second round of the Swissliga took place at MG Wangen in Kestenholz. Eighteen pilots competed in the P-23 class, and six in the A-23 class. This encouraging

Due to brief weather disruptions, the increase in participants meant that the number of runs in all categories had to be limited.

If this encouraging trend continues, the F3A Technical Committee will need to consider how to best distribute the competitions with the various flight programs across future events. The exchange between experts and beginners at competitions is important and often leads to greater motivation and the necessary sharing of experience.

Pilots Sandro Matti, Marc Rubin, and Reto Schumacher won the national team selection. They will compete in the 2024 European Championships in Belgium.
