Just the right size to take with you everywhere
RR Razzor by Multiplex
The latest Elapor creation from Multiplex. Multiplex has proven that it can produce high-quality foam models that stand up to the rigors of everyday model-building. From beginner models like the Easyglider to fun models like the Funcub, all the way to faster models like the DogFighter.
Now I'm looking forward to the RR Razzor. This small model is 95% pre-assembled and, depending on the version, comes complete with or without a Multiplex receiver. The Razzor is well-packaged, and the pre-applied decals make a good impression. The servos are all installed, and the control surfaces are already hinged in place—except for the elevator. The ESC is pre-wired and equipped with the Multiplex connector system. Assembly is quick and easy. You can’t really call it “building” anymore, but that suits me just fine. For anyone who doesn’t like working with glue, this is the right model. Only the vertical stabilizer needs to be glued in place. It’s a good idea to check the control linkages. During assembly, the rudder linkage had slipped out of its mounting on the servo. A V-cable is included for the ailerons. I wired the ailerons individually, which allows for differential aileron control. There isn’t much to program, since the ESC is already ready to use.

Multiplex promises a top speed of 110 km/h—all with an airplane that has a wingspan of 620 mm and weighs about 300 grams. I’m curious to see how it goes.
The instructions recommend a hand launch. I’m not too keen on that. We have a large hard-surface runway, and the plane, as you know, has a landing gear. So I rolled it around a bit on the runway—the plastic tail wheel will probably be worn down pretty soon. Align the model and slowly apply throttle, keeping the plane on the runway with the rudder—airborne! The control travel specified in the manual is generous. The model is nimble, surprisingly easy to fly, and it gets very small very quickly. Unfortunately, I can’t verify the 110 km/h top speed. But for its size, the Razzor is fast. Landing is a bit trickier—the Razzor has a tendency to flip over. The model doesn’t get damaged in the process, but it doesn’t look so great. Of course, it’s not as smooth to fly as the DogFighter. But it’s fun and is just the right size to always have with you.

*Have fun, René Stoll*
