The Swiss team finished in a strong 4th place behind the U.S., Japan, and West Germany.

For the sixth time, the U.S. team claimed the world championship title. All three pilots reached the finals, meaning they finished among the top six. Above: Team leader R.A. Penrod (center) gives his final instructions before the tiebreaker. Mark Radcliff and Sally Brown.

Below: Photojournalist and mechanic Mario Waldmeier. One of the key responsibilities of a national team is always covering the event. There are no AeCS helpers to take on this task.
