Exhibition by the Erlenbach Model Aircraft Club
On the first weekend in March, the Erlenbach Model Aircraft Club presented the public with a colorful array of model airplanes, most of which were built by the club members themselves. Among the displays were small beginner models made of foam, electrically powered biplanes, and exotic flying wings, as well as jets with jet engines. Hovering above them were numerous elegant large gliders beneath the ceiling of the Erlibacherhof theater hall, as if they were circling in thermal currents. The visitors, who turned out in large numbers—especially on Sunday—showed great interest and marveled at the variety of exhibits. Quite a few locals took the opportunity to get a close-up look at the airplanes they had seen flying above Herrliberg for years—

had watched model planes flying at the club’s airfield, which was founded in 1944. Many pilot friends from neighboring clubs also stopped by to see us. The refreshment stand integrated into the exhibition offered an opportunity to talk shop over coffee and cake surrounded by model airplanes. It was an all-around successful event that more than made up for the considerable effort put in by the organizing model flying group.
