In Memory of Oskar Ledergerber

On December 23, 2018, our long-time president Oskar (from 1996 to March 2017!!) passed away peacefully in the hospital after a brief illness.

Oskar took over as president (then still known as “Obmann”) of the Zurich Model Flying Club in 1996 following a period of turmoil. With his calm and level-headed manner, he steered our club into calmer waters. Thanks to his prudence and his constant emphasis on noise reduction and safety, the already good relations with our neighbors and

the municipalities of Eglisau and Buchberg.

It should be noted with great praise that Oskar, through his printing business, also played a significant role in keeping our printing costs very low. Together with his wife Jolanda, who sadly passed away in 2015, Oskar did an immeasurable amount to ensure the club’s continued existence and foster a positive atmosphere within our organization. And for that, we owe him a great debt of gratitude.

For all his service to club life, Oskar was named an honorary

member at the General Meeting in March 2012. Since he also rendered valuable service to the NOS, Oskar was honored as an honorary member of the NOS at the 2017 Presidents’ Conference. Upon stepping down as MGZ President, Oskar was awarded the AeCS-SMV Medal of Merit.

On January 4, 2019, we bid farewell to Oskar with a final aerial salute. He was laid to rest at the Unteraffoltern Cemetery in the presence of his immediate family. ■
