SwissAkro Connection Activities

More than a quarter of a century ago, a few dedicated model pilots recognized the appeal of aerobatic flying with model gliders. The precision with which these large gliders can be maneuvered through various flight maneuvers, their majestic and harmonious flight patterns, and the team spirit among glider pilots and tow pilots during towing have lost none of their fascination to this day. To promote this branch of model flying, these model pilots founded the SwissAkro Connection (SAC). Even after many years, the SwissAkro Connection team continues to champion this scene—and has been doing so with increasing dedication in recent times. To this end, the ten members of the leadership team, under the direction of René Koblet and Andy Minnig, independently organize various events. In addition to well-known events such as the regional competition, the Swiss Championship, and the Swiss Akro Cup, they strive to come up with new, innovative ideas to—

to encourage more model airplane pilots to take up aerobatic gliding.

Open House Days

For the past two years, introductory days have been organized in various regions of Switzerland with the goal of introducing interested model airplane enthusiasts to acrobatic gliding and sparking their joy and enthusiasm for this branch of model aviation.

Styrocup

The first Styrocup was held last late fall. The goal of this event is to organize a simple yet exciting competition using affordable motor gliders made of Styrofoam. The enthusiasm and the many positive responses from participants have encouraged the crew to hold this competition again and include it in the 2022 annual program

. It will take place as follows and is open to all interested model pilots:

  • October 8, 2022, in Büron
  • October 22 at MFV Falknis in Balzers

Announcements will follow on the SwissAkro Connection website:
