MG Hinwil Four-Stroke Friendship Fly-In
After a period of heavy rain, the barometer rose sharply, treating the organizers of MG Hinwil to a sunny late-summer day for their traditional four-stroke competition.
In high spirits, 32 active four-stroke pilots and one electric pilot took to the competition in the morning hours. Around 10 a.m., after a brief briefing by competition director Stefan Keller, start number 1 finally kicked off the first round. The pilots in attendance handled the tasks in all three rounds with ease. Significantly, there were hardly any failures to report. The flight program covered everything from simple loops and circular maneuvers to timed flights and concluding precision landings. The enthusiasm of the competitors undoubtedly confirmed to the organizers that they had chosen the right format for the competition. Certainly,
the high level of piloting skill among the participants also contributed to the event’s success. Erich Rohrer from MG Dübendorf impressively demonstrated during the competition that the assigned tasks could also be completed with an electric model. Naturally, he competed outside the official competition. After an all-around successful competition, it was finally time for the awards ceremony.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers and especially
to the two ladies, Ursi and Silvia, in the club kitchen, whose dedication helped make the event a success. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the participants—some of whom traveled from far away—as their participation demonstrated great interest in the event. We can only hope that the organizers’ efforts will be rewarded with equally great success at the next traditional Friendship Fly-In.
