Establishment of a New Model Aircraft Club

4

It happens time and again that a few like-minded people want to join forces to start a model aircraft club. At first, it doesn’t take much. However, if such a group decides to join the broader AeCS model aviation movement—whether out of solidarity, a thirst for information, a desire to participate in events, or other reasons—this step does require a bit more—perhaps foresight, idealism, and a sense of responsibility; because a group that joins the AeCS is not isolated somewhere out in the wilderness, but helps support the broader model aviation community by respecting the rules and space of other groups, it may at the same time expect that the model flying community as a whole, as an association, will protect it as best as possible from the encroachments of others.

A new model aircraft club has recently been founded just outside Winterthur. This is the second new club to be established this year, following the founding of MG Meilen. The members of this club are all RC glider pilots who primarily engage in slope flying. It is, therefore, a true specialty club made up of experts, one that also has the advantage of never having to deal with emissions issues—which, in today’s world, is in itself a sign of a promising future.

The group is called RCSG-Mörsburg (see list of club presidents). On behalf of Region 5, we wish these comrades a great start, countless unforgettable hours at the airfield, and a rewarding collaboration with neighboring groups.
