A rich annual program from Swiss Akro Connection
Fans of RC aerobatics can look forward to a packed annual program again this year. It was presented by the two organizers, René Koblet and Andy Minnig, at the meeting on November 26, 2022, in Birrfeld, and was reviewed and approved by the assembled members of the Swiss Akro Connection.
The two members of the leadership team welcomed 22 glider and tow pilots from various regions of Switzerland to this meeting. After reviewing the past season, the extensive annual program—including various regional, national, and international competitions—was discussed and finalized.
A new change is planned for the regional competitions. For the first time, the competition pilots will be divided into an East group and a West group for the regional competition. The division of the clubs into East and West can be viewed on the Swiss Akro Connection website. The advantages of this change include, among other things, less time pressure throughout the event, the ability to fly more rounds, and shorter travel distances for most participants. The dates and venues have already been set:
The Eastern Regional Competition will take place on April 29, 2023, at MG Diessenhofen, and the Western Regional Competition on May 6, 2023, at CA du Seyon.
- Scoring Judges Course with Training: April 15, 2023, at MFV Kulm
- Euro Contest Tour Austria: June 23–25, 2023
- Euro Contest Tour Germany: July 21–23, 2023
- Euro Contest Tour Switzerland: August 25–27, 2023
- Swiss Championship: September 23–24, 2023

In addition, there will once again be an open house and various Styro-Cups. The full schedule and further information—especially regarding the various training sessions—can be found on the website www.swissakro.ch.
I’m sure you’ve already flown loops and rolls with your glider model. And if you enjoy stringing together a few flight maneuvers, then Swiss Akro Connection is the perfect place for you. With our gliders, we strive to fly these maneuvers as precisely and harmoniously as possible. Every model pilot’s goal should be to develop a safe flying style and to perfect their piloting skills with each flight. The best way to do this is by flying set flight programs. Why not join us? We’d love to welcome new glider aerobatic pilots. Your flying experience is secondary at first. During training, newcomers receive all the support and guidance they need. That way, you’re sure to make your first strides forward.
The new rookie program was intentionally kept simple and poses no major challenge for any model pilot, regardless of experience level. These flight maneuvers can be performed with any aileron-controlled glider model, with or without a motor. Hand launches are even permitted.
Do you enjoy sailplane aerobatics and want to learn how flights and maneuvers are judged? Don’t worry! The members of the Swiss Akro Connection leadership team will guide you and provide you with advice and support.
A training session will take place on April 15, 2023, at MFV Kulm. In the morning, a theory session will be held using videos and handouts. In the afternoon, you’ll judge flights and maneuvers performed by active aerobatic sailors, ranging from beginners to the Swiss champion. Experienced Puris will support you throughout. By the end of the day, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to successfully score points at the interregional and Swiss championships. In 2023, there will be three events: two regional championships and the Swiss Championship.
The following year, you’ll already be able to score points at international championships. Register by email or directly with the Puri leader, Peter Streit: 079 866 86 49, peter.streit@swissakro.ch, or with a member of the Swiss Akro Connection leadership team.
