GARIV – 3rd Annual “Mangia e Vola” in Lodrino

Early in the morning, while we were setting up the kitchen, the first rays of sunlight appeared over the hill across the way.

Light cloud cover and temperatures around 20 degrees make for excellent flying conditions in Lodrino at this time of year, with the sun already low in the sky. All model airplane pilots from Ticino were invited to this edition of our successful event.

The crowd was large and more diverse than ever before. From simple “foam waffles” to trainers, beautiful internal-combustion-engine models, drones, and turbine jets—the only things missing were tow planes and gliders. At noon, the GARIV model aircraft club offered a barbecue lunch and drinks. Anyone who wished could make a small contribution toward the costs.

In the afternoon, the event continued with fairly heavy air traffic and lines at the booths. ☺

It was very gratifying that the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Riviera, Ulda Dechristopheris, accepted our invitation.

She expressed her delight at the club’s lively on-site activities and the presence of many young people, and during our conversation she emphasized the importance of such activities for our youth.

Socializing while celebrating and flying with friends—an event format that has once again proven its worth. ■
