### A Beautiful Vintage Glider Model

Bauer Modelle, chocal gmbh—the specialist manufacturer of ready-to-fly models based in Schwäbisch Gmünd—unveiled a new aerobatic model at the 1978 Nuremberg Toy Fair: the DFS-Habicht.

The world's first glider capable of performing aerobatics

This model is a replica of the world’s very first glider capable of performing full aerobatics. This glider was in use from the mid-1930s until the end of World War II, and it set several records during that time. At that time, this glider reached speeds of 60–420 km/h in a dive.

Model Description

Its outstanding flight performance lives up to that of its sophisticated prototype. The folded wing section gives the model exceptional stability against lateral forces. The outer wing lies horizontally at the bottom, creating a slight V-shape during inverted flight. The aircraft is highly maneuverable for aerobatics, a characteristic achieved through its favorable wingspan and the pronounced trapezoidal shape of the wings. A truly successful replica.

All required aerobatic maneuvers are performed safely and smoothly. When towed, this vintage glider model exhibits the same excellent characteristics as its full-scale counterpart: it hangs “calmly” and effortlessly on the tow rope.

Technical Specifications

With a wingspan of 2,450 mm and a fuselage length of 1,210 mm, the technical specifications make it easy to transport. The total wing area of 61.8 dm² and a flight weight of 3,000 g meet today's requirements.
