About 30 members of the Schwyz-Uri Model Aircraft Club attended the 48th Annual General Meeting on January 24, 2009, at the Sonnenberg Restaurant in Schwyz. Right at the start, President Stefan Gamma highlighted many positive moments from the past club year in his annual review.

A look back at many highlights

The board’s work in recent years appears to be on the right track, as the club was able to welcome nine new members despite a wide range of recreational activities available. The “Heliplausch,” the club’s internal helicopter competition, set a new record for the number of participants. The “Ferienpass,” which allowed young model aircraft enthusiasts to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon, and several friendly flying sessions rounded out the wide range of diverse events.

Model Airplane Airfields

Under the agenda item “Airfields,” there was nothing but good news to report. In the canton of Uri, a clubhouse was even rented. It already serves as a gathering place for model aircraft enthusiasts and their families. It also provides a space for socializing within the model aircraft club.

Awards

The packed calendar of events required a great deal of dedication from the entire model flying club. The president took this opportunity to express his heartfelt thanks to all active members and to everyone who supports the Schwyz-Uri Model Flying Club.

A special thank you went to Dora Gamma for her tremendous dedication at the clubhouse.

Karin Schuler was thanked for the seasonal decorations in the clubhouse.

In addition, Alois Fässler, Walter Beeler, and Armin Schuler were honored for their contributions.

Outlook

The 2009 calendar of events is similar to last year’s. Among the many different events, the highlight in June will once again be the Regional Hang Gliding Championship, a competition held at both the regional and national levels. For the upcoming flying season, we wish all active participants at least a hand’s breadth of air beneath their wings.
