RC Aerobatics (F3A) 2012 Swiss Championships
On August 25 and 26, the second round of the 2012 F3A Swiss Championship was held in Amriswil (TG). Last season marked the first time an open Swiss Championship was held, meaning pilots could participate even without qualifying through the Interregional Championship. As a result, despite the very poor weather forecast, 19 pilots from all over Switzerland took to the field. Fortunately, on Saturday—with sunshine, a few harmless clouds, and no wind—the event started on time, and two complete rounds of the preliminary program “P13” were completed.
On Sunday morning, with the wind already very strong, the preliminary round continued, and the third “P13” round was held. The models had to be tied down to the ground so they wouldn’t be
gusts of wind.
The top six pilots from the preliminary rounds advanced to the finals in the afternoon, where they had to complete two more rounds of the significantly more difficult

As was the case in Oberönz, Marc Rubin also won the second sub-competition in Amriswil. Second place went to Pirmin Jund, ahead of Sandro Matti, who took third place.
They were allowed to fly the “F13” final program. The higher level of difficulty of this program resulted in larger point differences among the top pilots.
The MG Amriswil organized a smoothly run competition that highlighted the high level of flying skill among all pilots, especially given the challenging wind conditions.

On the technical side, 18 electric engines were used, most of them without reduction gearboxes. Marc Rubin flew the new four-stroke engine from Yamada, which features direct injection and electronic spark plug ignition. In terms of models, there were monoplanes with Canalizer-

Ailerons and biplanes can be seen. The Canalizer gives the aircraft excellent lift characteristics, especially during inverted flight maneuvers.
As was the case in Oberönz, Marc Rubin also won the second sub-competition in Amriswil. Second place went to Pirmin Jund, ahead of Sandro Matti, who took third place.
For the Swiss Championship, the results of both competitions were evaluated and calculated based on ranking points right on the course. As a result, the 2012 Swiss Championship title went to Marc Rubin. Pirmin Jund took second place and Reto Schumacher took third.
