F3A Swiss League, 2nd Round

8

A field of 17 pilots gathered in Niederwil near Cham in mid-September for the second edition of this Swiss championship. The Zugerland Model Flying Club, as the host, provided the competitors with excellent facilities.

Weather conditions on the first day were quite challenging, with changeable weather and occasional gusty winds. The two P23 rounds that were flown yielded no major surprises, and a leading trio emerged—one whose composition we’ve been familiar with for quite some time—with Sandro Matti in the lead, followed by Marc Rubin and Reto Schumacher.

Under beautiful weather conditions on Sunday morning, another P23 round was flown, with the rankings remaining unchanged. In the afternoon, the top six pilots competed in two rounds of the challenging F23 final program. It was clear just how effortlessly the top trio mastered this aerobatic program. The final results crowned Sandro Matti as the well-deserved champion, followed by Marc Rubin and Reto Schumacher.

The final results from the first and second rounds combined to determine the annual standings for the Swiss F3A Aerobatics Championship, with the order remaining unchanged: Swiss Champion and gold medalist Sandro Matti, silver medalist Marc Rubin, and bronze medalist Reto Schumacher.

It was remarkable and wonderful to observe that the camaraderie and mutual willingness to help among the participants were very evident; accordingly, the atmosphere was very friendly and enjoyable. Hopefully, this will encourage more young people to participate in future events...
