The Many Faces of Model Aviation

The Reichenburg Model Aircraft Club celebrated its 40th anniversary with an exhibition.

To mark its 40th anniversary, the Reichenburg Model Aircraft Club organized a model aircraft exhibition in March 2019 at the Reichenburg Multipurpose Hall.

We showcased the versatility of our hobby with over 50 interesting models from the categories of gliders, powered aircraft, jets, and helicopters. All of the models on display were owned by members of the Reichenburg Model Aircraft Club. Even for die-hard members of the MFGR, it was astonishing to see what some of their colleagues still had stashed away in their basements and just how diverse the skills in wood and plastic model building actually are within our group.

Andi Bamert put a great deal of effort into building—specifically for this event—a much-admired diorama of our model airfield, complete with many attractive features such as lighting and smoke coming from the chimney of the club hut. Throughout the exhibition, our members took care of visitors both by providing refreshments and offering technical advice. The food and beverage service, under the professional direction of Corsin Albin, took care of the visitors’ physical well-being. In addition to hot and cold drinks

Spaghetti and cake were also served, and the folk music group Thesiluk provided musical entertainment on Saturday evening.

The beautiful weather on Saturday worked somewhat against us, as many potential visitors apparently took advantage of this opportunity to spend their first day of the season working in the garden. On Sunday, however, we saw significantly more visitors. We also received a great deal of positive feedback, so the event can be considered a success.
