The H 101 Salto from WIK. With a wingspan of 230 cm and a V-tail, it enhances the RCS model lineup. The model is built to a 1:6 scale. Its elegant flight characteristics will delight every fan.

You can feel the bird’s exceptional aerobatic and gliding capabilities through its lively nature. Control remains excellent whether flying at high speed or at low speed.

Aerobatic maneuvers such as rolls, loops, Kubanacht, turns, etc., can be flown cleanly with a little practice. Thanks to these characteristics, the Salto is ideally suited for tow-in flying. Unfortunately, we are not yet at the point where we can use it for towing. This description makes it clear that the Salto is not a beginner’s model. I would recommend that anyone build the Salto only if they have sufficient experience and good flying skills.

The kit contains all the parts needed for conventional wing and tail assembly. The fuselage is precision-molded from fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP). The precision of all wooden parts is guaranteed. All necessary drill holes and slot markings are provided on the fuselage. There is sufficient space inside the fuselage for the control mechanism of the V-tail. The wing construction is robust and functional. Special attention must be paid to the aileron linkage. A general note on control travel: Due to the Salto’s design, all control surfaces respond very sensitively. Control travel should be kept as small as possible.

For the Salto’s finish—that is, the covering of the wings and tail—we chose Monokote. Since the Salto has a very high-speed airfoil, the smooth surface of this film is ideally suited. In addition, all control surfaces are attached using Monokote. This ensures optimal control surface performance.

First, we prime the fuselage with a matte white spray paint. After it has dried thoroughly, sand it lightly and apply the final coat of paint spray 1 to 2 more times in a fine mist. This method produces a great finish without applying too much paint.

Flying in a well-balanced model is no longer a problem.

To everyone building the Salto: have fun, and enjoy flying it to the fullest!
