24th BRISLACH MODEL BUILDERS' FAIR: TRADITION MEETS PASSION – A STALEWARE IN THE MODEL AVIATION SCENE

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Brislach once again became a mecca for model aircraft enthusiasts from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries. For the 24th edition of the legendary model-building fair hosted by the MFV Brislach, bargain hunters and tech enthusiasts flocked to the multipurpose hall to take home a piece of the magic of flight.

At a time when online shopping is often anonymous and impersonal, the Brislacher Börse proves year after year that nothing can replace the in-person experience. Personal discussions with experts, examining a model up close, and direct interaction with like-minded people are the ingredients that make this event so successful, even after nearly a quarter-century.

The early bird catches the bargain

There was already a flurry of activity in the early morning hours, as many vendors and bargain hunters wanted to arrive early. Just in time for the opening, the tables in the hall and the outdoor area filled up with a wide selection of exhibits. The assortment ranged from delicate gliders to powerful motorized aircraft and helicopters, all the way to state-of-the-art electronics, remote controls, and rare replacement parts.

It was also noticeable this year that buyers have become more selective. Quality and uniqueness were highly valued. While beginners were looking for affordable deals, professionals were on the hunt for high-quality models and technical rarities that can no longer be found on store shelves.

More Than Just a Marketplace

But the Brislach Model Exchange has long been more than just a marketplace. It’s a social event. Once people had stowed away their treasures, they were inevitably drawn to the festival food area. The aroma of freshly grilled steaks and sausages, along with the now-legendary, lavish buffet featuring homemade cakes, satisfied everyone’s appetite and invited them to linger and enjoy the atmosphere.

Here, people laughed, discussed, and philosophized. It is this “spirit” that motivates visitors to undertake journeys—some lasting several hours—to attend. You meet old acquaintances, make new connections, and exchange tips that can’t be found on any online forum.

A resounding success as we look ahead to the anniversary

As the crowds slowly thinned out that afternoon, the faces at the Brislach Model Flying Club looked tired but thoroughly satisfied. Many sellers left the hall with light luggage, while buyers proudly carried their new purchases to their cars.

The 24th edition has once again underscored that the Brislach Air Show is an indispensable event on the Swiss model aviation calendar. This year’s success is both an incentive and a source of anticipation for us: Next year, on April 3, 2027, we will celebrate our grand 25th anniversary—a milestone we are already looking forward to.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers, the exhibitors, and, of course, the many visitors who made this day such a special experience. ■
