Board of Trustees, Modell Flugsport Foundation

After 17 years of service, Wolfgang Matt plans to step down from the Modell Flugsport Foundation Board. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his many years of outstanding service to the foundation. I will pay tribute to him in more detail in due course.

However, the Foundation Board is already considering Wolfgang’s successor and is extending an invitation to all interested model aviators. To pique your interest, I’d like to provide a brief overview of our activities. The magazine “modell flugsport” is supported by a foundation. Its purpose is to promote model aviation, particularly by supporting youth programs and fostering contact and collaboration among model aviators through regular internal and external communications. This is achieved primarily—but not exclusively—through the periodic publication of the magazine “modell flugsport,” the regular updating of the website of the same name, and other informational activities.

The administration of the foundation is the responsibility of a board of trustees currently consisting of seven members. The board has all the authority necessary to pursue the foundation’s purpose. Based on past experience, the board meets four to six times a year to plan and carry out pending business. The members of the Board of Trustees generally serve in an honorary capacity. The Board of Trustees appoints its own members and constitutes itself, taking care to select individuals whose attitudes and past commitment align with the foundation’s purpose.

With this in mind, we are seeking an enthusiastic model aviator—male or female—who is interested in contributing to the foundation’s mission. We expect a willingness to support the various facets and disciplines of model aviation, as well as an interest in helping to shape the administrative and organizational processes involved in producing the magazine “modell flugsport.” Since Wolfgang Matt was in charge of the finance department, experience in financial matters and bookkeeping is desirable.
