2026 LOSTORFER BEGINNER SLOPE COMPETITION: A SUCCESS

With the weather still damp at first and a moderate Bise wind blowing, 23 pilots made their way to the launch site. Because of the Bise, the launch site was not at its usual location but 300 meters further east, where they could fly into the headwind toward Stüsslingen. Around noon, the sun came out and warmed both body and soul.

However, finding the right takeoff direction remained a challenge. The small, lightweight models are very sensitive to crosswinds and are quickly pushed back toward the slope. But if you managed to get a good start, you could achieve longer flights. There were also a few tree landings, but all the models were recovered. The longest flights were 139 seconds by Willi Janick in the junior category and 106 seconds by Primus Löffel in the senior category. However, since all six flights were combined for the rankings, this wasn’t quite enough to reach the top.

Thanks to generous donations from model shops, all students were able to choose a prize. Perhaps they’ll bring their assembled model kits to the next Lostorfer event.

I hope to welcome many participants to the Lostorfer again next year. Free flight is fun! The complete rankings are available at: www.modellflug.ch
