We're happy to fulfill your wishes

Dear Readers

Wishes and requests reach the editorial staff—sometimes directly, but unfortunately often indirectly as well. “It’s always these scale helicopters and never anything about helicopter aerobatics or 3D flying. Isn’t that a bit one-sided?” Such criticism is, of course, justified. As an editor, I can only ask the various model aviation communities to encourage their knowledgeable colleagues to share more information beyond their own circles. Within our association, we have outstanding examples of technical committees or competition classes that—in addition to their own websites—also regularly report on their activities in the MFS. Anyone who takes their sport seriously has no choice but to publicize it. My observations have confirmed this for years. Media platforms—the internet, social media, and print—have proven to be extremely effective.

It would be wonderful and exemplary if this realization were to take hold among the association’s leadership as well—both regionally and nationally. Association websites, too, are often quite unsatisfactory. However, such a site—supplemented with suggestions and clear information from the executive boards—would be far more effective. This would allow us to better fulfill our shared goals than the unfortunately widespread “backroom chatter.” Coordinated collaboration among everyone involved in association communications could be a recipe for the future. I wish us all plenty of creativity and good luck in this endeavor.

Warm regards
