42nd Hausen a.A. Air Show 2023
What a late-summer model aircraft festival it was at this year’s Hausen a.A. Air Show! The event’s organizers, the Affoltern a.A. Model Aircraft Club (MGAF), were richly rewarded for some of the past years’ events, when the sun didn’t make many appearances.

More than 40 pilots gathered at the “Cracks” aerobatic show in Hausen a.A., which had been billed, so to speak, as the season finale for model aircraft enthusiasts. Right on time at 10:00 a.m., Wolfgang Auth from the Hausen 2023 Organizing Committee took off with the club’s logo—the “Paper Swallow”—thereby opening the 42nd Hausen a.A. Air Show. Accompanied by silky-smooth sounds from the perfectly arranged speakers, the “Paper Swallow” glided silently back toward the ground and touched down gently on the meadow next to the 700-meter-long runway. →

After that, however, the peace and quiet came to an end for a long time, as from then on, numerous turbines, rotors, and propellers roared, sending colorful plumes of smoke into the beautiful autumn sky. After two successful runs through the program, the first day of the event came to a close. But the weekend wouldn’t be the Hausen a.A. Air Show without the now-traditional cheese fondue for all participating pilots and the many volunteers in the MGAF festival tent. The next day got off to another perfect start weather-wise after the lively, boozy evening. Once again, the adapted program was performed twice—spectacularly yet safely—before the enthusiastic crowds that had gathered in droves. For everyone

There was something for everyone in the varied air show program. Even the youngest children truly enjoyed the colorful hustle and bustle on the ground and in the air. The Hausen a.A. Air Show is truly a family event.
Seeing so many exciting things not only whetted our appetite for even more model building, but also for food—and the MGAF provided plenty of dining options to satisfy that appetite.
Many market booths and information stands provided curious visitors with information about this wonderful recreational activity right up until the end of the air show, when an engaging and fun fox hunt with plenty of interaction brought the event to a close.
