Contest Euro Tour 2024 in Oberriet

The Contest Euro Tour in RC aerobatics consists of three individual competitions, held once each in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

1. Competition in Oberriet (Switzerland)

The first competition of the season was held in Switzerland. A total of 31 male pilots and one female pilot had registered for this major event. It always takes place over three days. Flying takes place in two categories: 20 pilots in the Advanced class and 13 pilots in the Unlimited class. This was the second time the entire contingent had been

MFV Oberriet. Just as they did three years ago, the organizers led by Ramon Gschwend and his team spared no effort to provide us with perfect facilities. Twelve pilots were registered from Germany, seven from Austria, and 13 from Switzerland. The longest journey was undertaken by the only woman in the field, Nelly Diez. She drove all the way from Spain to Oberriet specifically for this event—a distance of about 1,200 km.

Under the competent and efficient leadership of René Koblet, the planned program was able to proceed despite some uncertain weather conditions

The program was performed in its entirety: a total of 7 runs featuring both familiar and unfamiliar figures, as well as a free skate.

For some general relaxation and entertainment, a Styro Cup was held on Friday evening—a one-of-a-kind spectacle for participants and spectators alike!

The fact that the event was a complete success despite the rather challenging weather conditions is largely thanks to the host club, MFG Oberriet, and its volunteers. They put in a tremendous amount of preparatory work, created the perfect setting, and supported us with advice and assistance throughout the entire event, while also treating us to delicious food. Many thanks to Oberriet!

To be continued!

The three tow pilots completed 328 tows at 500 and 600 meters, respectively, without incident. In the process, their engines burned through about 70 liters of fuel!
