With the Swiss Freestyle Challenge (SFC), a new competition category for 3D aerobatics in propeller-driven aircraft is being established in Switzerland. The goal is to offer you, the pilots, a professional platform where you can present your freestyle routines not just as a show, but within a competitive framework. The guidelines are as follows:

3D Evolution3D Master
Flight time3 minutes (±10 seconds)4 minutes (±10 seconds)
Model Size60–95 inches85 inches and up
Model power sourceElectric or internal combustionElectric or internal combustion
Maximum 135 cc
Additional setup requirements can be found in the regulations.

The focus is on creative routines, extreme maneuvers, crisp figures, and synchronization with music—in other words, exactly what makes modern freestyle aerobatics so fascinating.

The Swiss Freestyle Challenge is intentionally designed to be accessible to all aerobatic pilots, whether beginners or advanced. In addition to the competitive aspect, the focus is on community, sharing experiences, and further developing one’s own flying skills. At the same time, we set clear guidelines—particularly regarding noise control—to ensure that freestyle flying is established at model airfields in a sustainable and responsible manner. If you want to hear your music not just through headphones but as part of your flight routine, this is the place for you. The two competition days will take place on Saturdays in June and July. ■
