In addition to the new endurance or thermal flight class (F5J), the Electric Flight Subcommission of CIAM (the FAI's Model Flying Commission) also wanted to create an entry-level opportunity for those interested in combined cross-country and endurance flight.

Hotliners are common

High-speed electric gliders are very popular and can be found at almost every airfield; however, the chance to compete in an exciting competition with these models is rather slim. The new F5H class has now addressed this shortcoming. The F5H competition rules correspond exactly to those of the two

well-known F5B and F5F classes. The plan is that participants in the F5B World Championship class will not be allowed to compete in the “hotliner” category. Initially, these regulations will not be enforced for promotional reasons. The energy limitation, which has proven successful in the F5B glider and F5D pylon classes, can easily be applied to other classes as well, including the F5H Hotliner class:

Models with a minimum weight of 1.0 kg may consume 500 Wmin, and models with a minimum weight of 1.5 kg may consume 750 Wmin.

At this year’s Militky Cup (May 18–20), this

A new class has already been held. I'd be happy to provide more information. Good luck. ■
