This year’s Contest Euro Tour in glider aerobatics came to a close with the Swiss Akro Cup (SAP) in Wil. On Thursday afternoon, pilots were still training hard.

At the briefing on Friday morning, the competition program was shortened due to poor weather forecasts. On Friday morning, all pilots were able to complete their first compulsory round. In the afternoon, towed flights took place continuously in overlapping sessions. By the time the rain set in toward evening, a total of four rounds had been scored: two compulsory rounds and two “unknown” rounds. This was largely thanks to the reliable and experienced tow pilots, who, as always, did a fantastic job.

On Saturday morning, the weather was still pleasant, but rain was forecast for the afternoon. Therefore, the organizers decided to move up the freestyle routine with music and smoke. They didn’t want to miss out on this spectacular show under any circumstances. For the judges, the entire competition was a real challenge—

It was a real challenge, as the performances were very evenly matched and of a high standard. The judges did a good and thorough job.

The awards ceremony was held in the tent. René announced the results for the SAP Wil competitions in the Advanced and Unlimited categories. Christian Rückert then read the rankings for the Contest Euro Tour.
