A Great Honor for a Model Airplane Enthusiast from Bern
Aviator of the Year 2024; for the first time in the history of this award, a pilot and model aircraft builder was honored—an individual who has dedicated his immense commitment exclusively to the model aviation community for years. Traditionally, the Aviator of the Year is selected by the board of the Bern Aero Club and then announced at the general meeting. Individuals who have rendered outstanding service to light aviation in Bern are eligible for the title (quote from BAeC.ch).
The fact that this honor will go to a model airplane pilot in 2024,

impressively underscores the great importance that model aviation, as a branch of unmanned aviation,
continues to enjoy. It is not uncommon for model aviation to serve as a stepping stone to a successful career in aviation—one
most versatile industries of all.
“Yeah, and now just tell us already who this award was given to”—that’s probably what some of you are thinking. As it happens, this person was already profiled in somewhat greater detail in the 02/2025 issue of MFS. He is known by the name Huck.
On behalf of all model aviation enthusiasts, we’d like to congratulate the Bern Aero Club—an excellent choice!
