Summer is here—time for vacation!

At a time when life is full of energy and the days are longer, even the world of model aircraft doesn't slow down.

It can be quite a challenge to stand on the airfield in these summer temperatures and watch the plane trace its path.

It’s no surprise, then, that a group of young people decided to treat themselves to a fun day out with a trip to the model airplane field.

Then they arrived—a whole swarm of boys and girls, young and

older, in good spirits and full of anticipation.

For us, it’s now time to get down to business: explaining why an airplane flies, how it’s piloted, and so on. Curiosity is part of the fun.

My colleagues are anxious not to get their explanations wrong because our reputation as pilots is on the line.

Then came the practical part: the flight simulator, a brief explanation of electric flight, and then the takeoff of a fixed-wing aircraft.

The highlight, of course, was the helicopter demonstration.

The children were amazed by the spectacle.

Lunch is included, of course, after an informative morning.

A welcome change for some was a refreshing swim before heading home. A tradition that’s been repeating itself for three years now during the summer—a day spent with happy, curious, and carefree young people, enjoying our company in Stabio with GAM 2000.
