Presidents' Day, June 1, 2024, AéRo's French-speaking section

On this first day of June, the Seyon (NE) model aircraft club hosted the “Presidents’ Day” event for the Romandy chapter of AéRo. It was the club’s president, Roland Galley, who revived this tradition after a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And he was right to do so: no fewer than 13 presidents and a few guests accepted the invitation. They were welcomed at 10 a.m. by CAS President Jérôme Richard. After a breakfast of coffee and croissants and the briefing, the pilots were able to enjoy the magnificent terrain of Val-de-Ruz.

The weather in the days leading up to the event didn’t suggest a day like this: overcast skies but no rain and

very little wind—ideal conditions for exploring a new flight field.

It was also an opportunity to discover new models and new flight categories. For example, Marco Cantoni (F5 Aero Commission delegate) gave us a flight demonstration with his F5B glider. Simply impressive! Gaël Vitaliani (GMR Neuchâtel) brought a magnificent Gee-Bee R3 with a 3-meter wingspan, powered by a Vallach 250 cm³ engine. Magnificent! Airplanes, helicopters, gliders, tow-in flights, aerobatics—everyone helped to blow us away, and all without a single incident.

This gathering was marked by a great atmosphere and

warm camaraderie over a Fribourg fondue (thanks, Sam!), and it was the perfect setting for conversations and networking.

There’s no doubt this event will be held again next

and is expected to be held in Dizy.

Thank you to all the participants!

On behalf of the Seyon Model Aircraft Club, J. Schmid
