SWISS FREESTYLE CHALLENGE: FROM 0 TO 100 IN 9 MONTHS!

When an idea becomes reality. Anyone who looked closely noticed the gap in powered aerobatics. The Swiss Freestyle Challenge filled that gap!

In beautiful weather, the MFG Oberriet welcomed us at their airfield and contributed greatly to a fantastic competition with their tremendous support. We were especially curious to see how many pilots would make their way to Oberriet. For us, this was our first-ever competition, with many unknowns. How many pilots would register? That uncertainty, however, quickly dissipated: With a total of 18 participants, we were able to hold a high-caliber and exciting competition. Thanks to close collaboration with the RCS Akro glider aerobatics team, preparations were efficiently planned and carried out. Proven procedures were adopted and optimally adapted to the circumstances. As a result, we were able to run the competition smoothly and without any significant difficulties, despite the tight schedule.

The spectators were treated to some impressive flights. The pilots performed spectacular maneuvers at the limits of what’s possible—both high in the sky and just above the ground. It was particularly impressive to see the precision and passion with which the younger generation practices their sport and the flying styles that bring them special joy. Here, we’ve created an offering to meet high demand that can adapt quickly to future trends. Simple rules, minimal bureaucracy, just flying—and all grounded in the basics.

The Master’s class saw a thrilling competition unfold, with the final standings sometimes decided by mere tenths of a point. The suspense lasted until the very last flight, generating great excitement among both participants and spectators.

The friendly atmosphere throughout the entire event was particularly heartening. The pilots were not only pleased with their own performances but also applauded their competitors for their successful routines and impressive maneuvers. As a result, it became much more than just a competition: a true sense of community developed, characterized by fairness, respect, and a shared passion for model aviation.

We’d like to take this opportunity to once again extend a big thank you to MFG Oberriet, the Freestyle leadership crew, and all our supporters.

We’re looking forward to the next competition in Western Switzerland.

More information will follow soon.
