1979 RC Aerobatics World Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa

Defending champion Hanno Prettner of Austria did not compete. Wolfgang Matt of the Principality of Liechtenstein won his second title, narrowly ahead of Dave Brown of the U.S. With Mark Radcliff, two Americans finished in the medal positions. Two-time world champion Bruno Giezendanner of Pfäffikon placed sixth. The Swiss team finished in fourth place. The U.S. team once again won the team trophy.
