The proof: The Swiss have always been pioneers in model gliding

Although the weather forecast looked rather gloomy, we were able to fly extensively on both days. On Saturday, the weather was rather overcast, but there were updrafts. On Sunday, there were plenty of updrafts in sunny weather. It wasn’t until late afternoon
that a weather system moved in from the west. We had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful day.

This year, too, there were new participants and new models. The models date from 1936 to 1948. Some of the participants are even older. Our guests of honor, Werner Hauenstein and Heinrich Zimmerli, received a particularly warm welcome.

Comrades who were actively involved as participants and designers during the plywood era.

At the 2012 meet, we made a bet that Christian Tanner and I would each bring a plywood rubber-powered model. While Christian’s model didn’t take off, my Esso Pro Aero enjoyed a leisurely free flight at 2,000 meters above sea level. ■
